Rumors and Best Wishes to Suzanne Riggs for a Speedy Recovery!
With Neil Simon’s Rumors getting ready to open at the Rockaway Theatre Company for only six performances (May 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28), the entire RTC community was rocked by news that Suzanne Riggs, its guardian angel, mother hen and general all around rock of support for all, had to undergo surgery.
People rushed to show their own level of support for Suzanne and her family, as Facebook buzzed with get well wishes. With a massive number of fingers crossed, Suzanne came home earlier this week and Rockaway and beyond underwent a massive sigh of relief. If I were asked to describe what Suzanne means to so many people I would say just watch her interact with everyone, always in a positive way. She is a vital cog in the RTC machinery and we all can’t wait to see her scampering around once again from the booth to backstage at almost every production.
As for the Peggy Page/Michael Wotypka production of Rumors, expect to laugh yourself silly at the farce, which is defined as “a comic dramatic work using buffoonery and horseplay and typically including crude characterization and ludicrously improbable situations.”
You can see all of the above along with the Neil Simon conceit of dressing the cast in evening clothes. Knowing some of the actors and their usual dress, that ought to be a sight worth the price of.
